It may look like a violent war game on the outside, but paintball enthusiasts say their popular sport is safer and less violent than football. This Spokesman Review video slideshow captures the sights, sounds and observations of 150 camouflage-attired players gathered for a Saturday game of “Mortar Wars.” While most participants are young men, they come in all ages, and fathers love to bring their kids for an afternoon of adrenaline play. Rules vary but safety is emphasized, and while it stings to be hit – THWACK! -- players claim the pain goes away after a few minutes.
