Best Videojournalism of 2009
Grand Prize: A Week in Provence, France
It's awards season, and we're joining the party by announcing the first annual KobreGuide Awards, for the best videojournalism stories and projects of 2009.
In February 2010, we'll be announcing winners in each of our 20 KobreGuide topics (see list at right). And we'll also be selecting winners for each of these 5 categories:
* Videojournalist of the Year
* Best Videojournalism Story
* Best Videojournalism Package or Series
* Best Audio Slideshow
* Best Student Videojournalism Project
Each of these winners will receive a Lightscoop flash accessory for SLR cameras, pictured above. (Retail value: $35.)
The Best Student Videojournalist will also win an indispensable videocamera accessory, the J-Rod Super Strong Twin Mount (retail value: $45.)
We'll also be awarding a grand prize to the KobreGuide Videojournalist of the Year, and this one is pretty sweet. The winner gets a four-bedroom, three-story fully-furnished house in gorgeous Provence, France all to themselves for an entire week. It sleeps eight, so they can bring their friends and/or family for a vacation to one of the most charming villages in the world. (Read all about it here: http://ourplaceinprovence.com) The house is available between November 1, 2010 and March 15, 2011, and the prize does not include airfare, food, transportation, or other expenses. Some restrictions apply. (Value: approximately $900-$1200. No substitute prizes.)
We're going through the 250+ stories we showcased on KobreGuide in 2009, and we're inviting your input. Please let us know what your favorite videojournalism and multimedia pieces were from last year. You can select them from KobreGuide or anywhere else online.
Be sure to first read the KobreGuide criteria -- what we look for in selecting stories.
Whoever submits for our consideration the most entries that become KobreGuide prizewinners will also receive a complimentary Lightscoop.
