Acid Test
The world's oceans are being poisoned by carbon dioxide at an alarming rate and scientists are only beginning to realize it. (Natural Resources Defense Council)
According to this short documentary produced by the Natural Resources Defense Council, about one fourth of all CO2 emissions are absorbed by the earth's oceans and are changing the chemistry of the seas. A more acidic ocean could wipe out entire species, disrupt the food web and impact fishing and tourism.
Produced by NRDC and narrated by Sigourney Weaver, this film was made to raise awareness about the largely unknown problem of ocean acidification. The film includes interviews with several leading experts and stunning aerial and underwater footage all presented in an easy to digest format.
The film originally aired on Discovery Planet Green. An Entertainment Industry Foundation grant provided the core funding for this film.
